CBD Suppliers in Thailand Are Approved for Food and Beverage Use

Authorities in Thailand have eliminated food restrictions on CBD suppliers. For example, CBD extracts in food and herbal products are legal if they contain less than 0.2% THC content.

According to an official at Bangkok, “The main intention is to use extracts in medicine, cosmetics, food and support hemp as a cash crop”.

Thailand is creating new advancements in the research and use of hemp with multiple cultivation endeavors underway.  In July, Thailand also dispatched it’s first shipment of medical marijuana to hospitals after legislation was passed in 2018 to legalize for medicinal purposes.

Advancements Throughout Asia

China is taking charge by increasingly permitting the sale of cbd hemp seeds and other CBD products. At the moment, hemp is grown in Yunnan and Heilongjiang provinces. However, CBD in food is still not permited.

In Southeast Asia, India has allowed the cultivation of hemp in the state of Uttarakhand as well. There are businesses and research groups working on developing CBD and cannabis-based medicines.

Improvement in Hemp Laws in Thailand

In general, CBD extracts in food is a huge advancement for CBD suppliers in Thailand. The ability to include CBD and hemp in traditional medicine, foods, and cosmetics opens the doorway for other countries to follow suit.

In the US, the use of CBD in food and beverages is still in the gray as the FDA tries to find it’s position on the matter. Questions still remain regarding the science, safety, and quality of CBD, according to the FDA.

Thailand will introduce more regulations as the market matures and newer legislation is need. At the moment, there will be a requirement to clearly mark CBD products as “drugs or herbal products” under the new law. Also, you’ll need to register as a licensed group of CBD suppliers.
